In my artistic journey, charcoal serves as a starting point rather than a sole focus, acting as a gateway to a broader exploration of form, color, and texture. As a diasporic individual, my work is influenced by the dynamic nature of existence, the interplay of identities, and the uncertainties inherent in the materials I engage with.
My inspiration emerges from the forms abundant in nature and the everyday objects that surround us. These elements serve as the foundation for my artistic language, driving me to celebrate shapes and textures through the use of diverse materials. Whether it's charcoal or others, I view materials as partners in a collaborative dance, each with its own potential to contribute to the visual narrative.
I am fascinated by the transformative power of pushing materials beyond their conventional limits. This act of transcending materials allows for the birth of new forms, unseen and unimagined. My goal is to create a visual language that results in minimalistic abstract images, emphasizing both literal and object-oriented simplicity.
The juxtaposition of different textures and natures in my works is intentional. By weaving together disparate elements, I seek to create a dialogue about the dichotomy between flux and stability. The visual poetry that emerges from these contrasts speaks to the ever-shifting nature of our surroundings and the intrinsic beauty found in moments of equilibrium.
In essence, my art is a journey of exploration, not confined to a single medium but a celebration of forms in all their diversity. Through this visual language, I invite viewers to contemplate the nuanced dance between stability and flux, echoing the complexities of the human experience.
